LOCAL SPECIES

WITH SUCH PRISTINE WATERS IN OUR LOCAL AREA WE CAN OFFER A LARGE SELECTION OF SPECIES TO TARGET

Being located on the northern shores of the cape, the resort and most of our fishing grounds are sheltered from the south east trade breezes which are predominant in this region.

The vast majority of the species that we have available to catch can be targeted within 5 miles of the resort in flat sheltered waters. A few miles to the west of Montes there is a choice of 3 estuaries where mud crabs, barramundi, mangrove jack and most other tropical estuarine fish can be caught.

From right in front of the resort to the beautiful islands just to the east there is a myriad of reef fishing options where all the top shelf tropical table fish (coral trout, nannygai, sweetlip, fingermark and many others) can be caught. Also just a few miles to the east of the resort, there are many options for some great pelagic fishing with multiple species of trevally, mackerel, queenfish and even marlin and sailfish available to target. For the lure/fly fisherman this place is sight casting paradise.

We are blessed to have an almost limitless amount of shallow, sheltered crystal clear flats to explore either by wading or drifting and believe me all the pinnacle tropical flats species are here and waiting for you to come and pitch your skills against them.

Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus commerson)

Giant queenfish (Scomberoides commersonnianus)

Giant trevally (Caranx ignoblis)
